However, as that still requires a bit of a fee, here are three locations you can visit that look just like places abroad but cost way less to visit right here in Taiwan!

Little New Zealand’ — Chongde Farm

The Chongde Farm (崇德瑩農場) is known as Taiwan’s “Little New Zealand” and is located next to the Liwu River (立霧溪) in the Xiulin Township (秀林鄉) of Hualien County. This location offers you a breathtaking view, including beautiful mountains, vast rivers, wide grasslands, and incredible ocean sceneries.

There is even a two-story cafe where you can rest your feet and enjoy aboriginal cuisine. The farm also has many animals including lambs, ponies, horses, and even ducks. Animal lovers can head to a small vendor next to the stables to purchase carrots and grass to feed the animals. This farm also has ATVs, paragliders, and camping vans to make your trip even more fun!

There’s a well-known bamboo forest called “Wugayan Bamboo Forest” (烏嘎彥竹林) in Tai’an (泰安), Miaoli (苗栗). The bamboo forest forms a natural tunnel, and is said to be comparable to the beauty of the Arashiyama in Kyoto, Japan. Here, you can bask in the beauty of the tall bamboo shoots and enjoy the fleeting feeling of seclusion.

Once the filming location of the Japanese micro-film “A Japanese Traveler’s Adventure in Taiwan” (「日本旅人奇遇台灣之旅」), the various scenic spots are the best place to capture your #Instaworthy pics!

Though the forest has become quite popular these days, it’s not easy to access; therefore, there is a low chance of there being too many visitors at a time.

The “Dintouer Sandbank” (頂頭額沙洲) in Tainan’s (台南) Qigu District(七股) is a beautiful location that looks very similar to the Sahara Desert in Africa. The romantic sky and wavy sand dunes meet at the horizon, and the result is absolutely magnificent. The best time to visit would be in the afternoon or around dusk as its sunset is breathtaking. During the golden hour, every single speck of sand gives off a small reflection, turning the ground gold. Take off your shoes, and walk around! You will soon feel as if time has been condensed into an instant.
