在2018年12月，因緣際會下 Kanye West 拜訪了藝術家 James Turrell，並參觀了他的藝術項目「Roden Crater」，隨後馬上在 Twitter 上表示「這是一場改變人生的經歷」。或許是在相處時間裡被James Turrell 所折服了，Kanye West 決定捐贈1,000萬美元，幫助完成「Roden Crater」計劃。
